Roles, Responsibilities, Learning, Development and Assessment in the Life Long Learning Sector
My roles and responsibilities as a instructor include m all f good turnors, which I will be going through in this report. As my background is a hairdresser, I am look to teach in the hair oil sector. My learners would ide eachy be 16-19 year olds plan hairdressers, although in that respect could be the exception of mature adult learners, so I would motif to b be this in mind when teaching to en verit sufficient I cater to all individuals. The majority of my learners would also be girls with a constitute peradventure the exception of some boys. As my assort sector is really narrow, which retributive a few exceptions, this could be a barrier for those individuals. For simulation if there is single 1 boy in a classroom climb of girls, he could encounter uncomfort able-bodied or intimidated. Initially I would regard to assess the situation myself, and then delay in my lesson plan I include methods of inclusive learning. in that respect could be many former(a) barriers th at learners could eccentric for example, the environment, confidence, bullying, basic skills, and home paradoxs. So it would be my responsibility to tackle these barriers with solutions immediately, much(prenominal) as setting a clear contract at the move of the lesson, making the environment comfortable for the learners, making it fun and inclusive, and even scrape posting. As I check already mentioned above some group sector issues that I whitethorn encounter, there could also be separatewise issues such as pregnancy. In situations legislatele this I would drive to produce advice to learners and sign post them to people who could sponsor. I would need to dupe sure I always safeguard myself and lionize to my contract of employment rules. I would need to help where I fundament, and offer advice, and signpost where I tint. For this I would need to assess individual needs at an early put so that I feces help, and mentor them throughout their training course. The mast er(prenominal) aim as a hairdressing teacher is to be able to pass on knowledge through practical and theory learning. There are 3 main learning styles visual (seeing and reading), auditory (listening and speaking), and kinesthetic (touching and doing). I believe all 3 are genuinely great in the hairdressing sector. I would need to include all 3 learning styles because we as hairdressers need to see beneficial what we are traffic with for example, hair colour, hair style, hair conditions. We would also need to listen to our client needs, and offer advice. And finally our role is very practical, so we are always touching hair and doing things.Overall as I teacher I would need to be able to teach apply all 3 styles so that learners drive out push back used to this. save I would need to bare in mind that some learners may learn better using one learning style to another, for example, they readiness learn better by watching a demonstration quite a than having a theory handout . In that case I would offer them more than than support on the theory side of things. But in ecumenical if I use all 3 learning styles I nourish a better chance to cater for all individuals. As tumefy as learning styles we also generate to look at contrary teaching methods or activities. These could be things desire lectures, group travel, presentations, field invent, work placements, Q&A and case studies. Within the hairdressing sector what we use quite heavily are work placement, and practical work. This gives the learner a chance to gain some crucial hands-on experience of the working world. In foothold of the theory side of hairdressing, we use a lecture styled method where learners can gain information, write notes etc. While using all these methods it is beta to conduct a fun, bubbly and relaxed attitude in which learners can feel comfortable, and it allows their personality to come through.Getting everyone involved in group activities, company everyone around i n demonstrations, all this bear ons inclusive learning. It is very important for me to promote this behaviour as it demonstrates a level of good characteristics that they would later on need in the hairdressing industry. I would also make the lesson interactive by using various resources such as you tube clips, hot demonstrations, flip charts, and power point, which would all be relevant in its avouch matter. For example, the use of power point when going through head and bet shapes, or demonstrations when showing hair colouring. Another big responsibility of tap would be dealing with legislations. The Health and safety at work act 1974 and the COSHH act 1989, play a strong role in the hairdressing sector as hygienic as many others. Some of the things that we have to deal with daily are, hazardous chemicals, infections, skin tests, loose objects and wiring temporary removal around, and hair waste.I would need to make sure risk avoidance procedures are in place such as wearing gloves when dealing with hazardous chemicals, having barbercide on the salon floor so tools can be cleaned after each client to stop the spreading of infections. As well as doing that, it is also my responsibility to have a risk opinion regularly. This could just be as simple as if I can see hair waste on the floor, I would need to make sure its swept up immediately, or If there is spillage of chemicals, or colour left out in a bowl, I would have to get that cleaned up straight away.We also have to be mindful of The Data protection act 1984 as we have many records that we need to keep. As teachers we always have to keep records in order to keep ourselves backed up. We would need to be able to provide recite to governing bodies and clients, for when we have audits and even for self-development. Things such as attendance records, progress reports, assessment records and client records are all record keeping and we need to ensure its all backed up and that they are stored away saf ely, in all something locked up, or password protected. As we are dealing with client records like name, address, hair history, this also needs to be kept confidential, and only authorise people should be allowed to see this information. The Equality act 2010 is also very important. Equality seems to imply that everyone will be treated the same way, moreover when dealing with learners with different needs, abilities, backgrounds and so on, from a teachers point of view its all about providing each learner equal opportunity to achieve the goal.An example of this would be if an individual is attempt with keeping up with a elaborated power point presentation maybe because he is dyslexic or visually impaired, in this case as I teacher I would need to make it fair for him by giving out handouts. In order to make sure we are treating learners equally in ossification to their needs and abilities, it is vital to do interim assessments. Such assessments could be things like poster, 121 s, monitoring, and group work. This gives me a better understanding on what learners have achieved and what more they need to learn.Within my role I would probably use observation the most, as it is a quick and reliable method to use as we do quite a forget me drug of practical work. For example when everyone is doing a practical such as setting the hair I can easily observe them and assess who is doing well, and what learners may need extra help etc. Or when doing an interim assessment on their theory work I could have 121s and chat about what they have achieved and what more they need to do, I could get feedback from them if they are struggling with any work etc. gain this is a sensible and reliable assessment method. at one time I have assessed my learner I am then able to adapt to that and work on those areas. For example if I set a task for learners to weave highlights and I can see that they are struggling with sectioning, I might bring everyone around or see them each an d go through how to section accurately. When doing summative assessments in hairdressing, they are again split in two. We have the practical assessments where we use methods such as observation or photographic evidence for their portfolio. And on the other hand for the theory we have methods such as multiple choice, project work, and problem scenarios. Before we even begin assessing we need to make the methods we use are fair, well-grounded, reliable, and current. That is why we have different kinds of assessments for practical and theory, because where a photographic evidence might be reasonable to show that a learner can change a clients hair colour, that may not be logical or reliable to show that the learner understands the colour wheel or mixing of colour.Between an observation and a photographic I would adduce an observation is better. The reason is because it ticks all the boxes in terms of it being fair, valid reliable and current, because you can see for yourself whethe r the learner completed the assessment in spite of appearance the timescale, whether they struggled, or even whether that was all there own work. However the only downside of the observation assessment would be it can be very time consuming, it might cause problems being able to visit salons to assess learners at a work placement. On the other hand photographic is valid however not very reliable but its advantage is that it is very quick, easy and simple. The other method of assessment we use a lot to understand whether a learner has understood knowledge of colour is by giving them a multiple choice test. This is a fair and valid method, however I wouldnt say it is very reliable because learners could just take a guess. At the end of each lesson for me it is important to get feedback, evaluate and reflect on the session. I encourage learners to ask any questions, or we may even have a discussion. We also packet good practice for example one learner may have found it easier to do a t ask a particular way, and by sharing this with others it could help others achieve the same goal. We always reflect on each lesson where I revisit the objectives set at the start of the lesson, this gives the learners and myself a sense of achievement. Some learners may even want to discuss other matters such as development, or other problems that they are facing, so I need to give them that time and advise them, or signpost them to other authorities. Feedback is also valued, so that I myself could perhaps change or change things in future lessons.

American Society
With its fiftieth anniversary, scholars ingest had ample reason to pay back their attention to brown and reassess its meaning. From the basic to the Supreme accost Brown v. Board of Education and Ameri goat nation represents unmatched(a) of the earliest efforts, bony from a conference convened at the University of South Carolina in 2002. In the linguistic process of shot F. Lau, the editor, this collection reinforces long-held views of the decisions seminal importance and revolutionary nature (p. 13).While the cardinal contributors to the hold, scholars of law and history, swelledly support the to a higher place claim, their findings are not a simplistic restatement that Brown launched the civil rights movement. Instead, a more nuanced picture emerges, one that divvy ups a broad span of time, combines bottom-up and top-down methodologies, contextualizes the integrationist campaign at bottom larger themes of grassroots activism and constitutional change, and still acc ounts for variables of race, class, and region. Although the collection is kaleidoscopic, its essays essentially pop off along two perspectives. The first draws connections between long-standing traditions of grassroots activism and the traditional archives of Brown. As studies by Raymond Gavins, Kara Miles Turner, and Peter Lau make clear, before Brown topical anaesthetic activists sought effectual remedies as part of a larger, comprehensive fleck for equality. Alongside celebrated battles in the greetrooms, they pressed another(prenominal) campaigns for voting rights and frugal justice. Enriching our extrapolateing of grassroots mobilization, other essays demonstrate that activists had to contend not just now with external obstacles but as well with internal divisions of race, class, gender, language, and culture.Similarly, Tomiko Brown-Nagin skillfully explores intraracial tensions over the handling of post-Brown litigation in Atlanta. Christina Greene focuses on the o ften-overlooked piece of womens activism in her sharp knowledge of Durham, North Carolina, while Laurie B. Green deales the dynamics of urban-rural relationships by employing a much- look ated metropolitan approach to her exploration of Memphis and the surrounding Mississippi Delta. Other essays complicate the traditional narrative further, moving beyond the bounds of black-white relations to address experiences of other communities of color, especially outside the South.Furthermore, in a sweeping essay by Vicki L. Ruiz, he examines the meaning of segregated education for Mexi give notice Ameri canfuls, Asian Americans, and primordial Americans in the West. Also, Madeleine Lopez likewise offers a focused study of Puerto Rican experiences with desegregation in New York City, where campaigns for bilingual education complicated the integrationist struggle. In conclusion, the essays in the discussion embrace Brown, yet assert that the fortune represented but one component of the l arger civil rights revolution.Indeed, as the collection suggests, during the twentieth blow the struggle for integration and the struggle for equality diverged as often as they merged. As Lau notes, Seldom does significant change occur from any item-by-item source or emanate from any single direction (p. 14). Therefore, the book offers a picture of the civil rights revolution that is appropriately diverse and complex. LITERACY AND racial JUSTICE THE POLITICS OF LEARNING AFTER BROWN V bill of fare OF EDUCATION. This book by Catherine Prendergast examines the hypercritical issues raised in the celebrated case of Brown v Board of Education. It must be noted that the cardinal essays that make up Prendergasts volume plot the intersections between racial governance and educational practice and, in so doing, shed a broad deal of light on the nature and intent of current educational initiatives and controversies. In the introduction and in Chapter 1, The Economy of Literacy, Prenderga st examines the Brown persuasion, a ruling that was ostensibly intended to end racial discriminations power over educational insurance and practice, but ultimately did notThe author uses contemporary literacy theory and critical race theorists reading of the Brown ruling to argue that the justices explicit and inherent arguments reify a view of education as essentially sportsmanlike property. That is, the arguments and remedies of Brown constructed equal opportunity as the right of racial minorities to be educated among Whites the quality of schooling that forbidding children receive is directly myrmecophilous not notwithstanding on a White presence in schools but on Whites implicit willingness to share their privilege and property with Black children. It must also be noted that the books remaining chaptersDesegregation Comes to the Piedmont attitude ship mood with Word, Give me your Literate, and Literacy and Racial Justice in Practice lavishly School Xmay be of most use a nd bet to a slightly narrower audience of writing teachers, language theorists, and educational researchers. Chapter three examines the seeming absence of race issues and racial identity in Shirley Brice Heaths Ways with Words. The final essay in the volume, Literacy and Racial Justice in Practice, is ground on Prendergasts experiences as a tutor and aide, and later as a researcher, at High School X (a pseudonym for a western alternative high school). Here, Prendergast presents a realistic view of the stresses, tensions, and occasional triumphs of a partially-integrated school whose mission is an explicit recognition and celebration of difference.Although the lack of financial support for the school in the local African American residential district is an ongoing frustration for school administrators, Prendergast maintains that her study of HSX can provide several(prenominal) particularized insights for teachers and researchers and some lessons for a realistic approach to the ongoing racism of the American education system. The books conclusion addresses the thorny issues of ubiquitous educational testing, the role of the scholar in political change, and the reparations movement. Finally, Although the book is not without its faultsfor instance, Prendergasts analysis of the court cases would have been more compelling had she examined the rulings and opinions of the justices, rather than relying on secondary sources, and the way that the term literacy slips around, unmoored by any attempt at definition, can be confusingLiteracy and Racial Justice tells an authoritative story.Readers will discover in this story new insights into their own experiencesas students, teachers, and scholarseven as they struggle, with Prendergast, to understand both the too-often disheartening realities of todays schools and the society whose history and values those schools enact. How do you think this change can trounce be brought near? How can the legal business bring about change? The aspect of American society that I believe should be changed is the immigration policies and laws. Basically, according to the 1990 Immigration Act, the United States can allow only up to 700,000 immigrants per year. The main premise behind this law is for the reunification of families who have been separated by various circumstances. However, despite strict immigration laws and policies, on that point are roughly 10 million embezzled immigrants or aliens who presently live in the United States. Most of these immigrants come from the Philippines, India, and China. These figures generally intend two sides of the issue which most of the time contributes to the legislative and other legal impediments to the problem at hand.On one side, the staggering number of undocumented immigrants is a good proof of the attractiveness of America. Around the world, despite the global scotch cr isis, many people still believe that there are greener pastures and wear out jobs in the United States.Although there are millions of illegal immigrants who work in the country, it is ultimately beneficial to the economy. On the other hand, the massive number of immigrants poses a larger problem particularly in national security. Although this security nemesis is indirect, it could alter laws, redirect resources, and most of all, serve as a cover for criminals, extremists, and terrorists, among others.Meaning to say, there must be a comprehensive law or program that will more or less fix these problems mentioned above while at the same time ensuring that these illegal immigrants are someway given a chance to live prosperous lives.Basically, the law profession plays a powerful role in deciding the fate of these immigrants as the decision of allowing them to stay or sending back to their mother countries lies on American immigration laws. Considering the fact the there is a very la rge number of illegal aliens in the country despite stringent immigration laws, it can be therefore deduced that something is lacking in the countrys immigration system. Therefore, at the very least, a program that caters to non-citizen knob workers should be crafted in order to address this problem. Most of all, this program should ultimately head in frugal come acrosss and incentives for the United States. The legal profession can then lobby and call for the advocacy of this kind of program in recounting to ensure its legitimacy.Although there can be multiple dimensions to the program mentioned above, it should more or less revolve around certain principles. The most important of which are the immigration costs and benefits. The legal profession, in collaboration with interested government agencies and groups, can conduct studies and researches on this area so that an rough-and-ready immigration program can be made. The law profession can also craft a system in which all gues t workers entering the U.S. be identified immediately. Basically, the key to cracking down illegal immigrants is swiftness together with the help of technological advancements such as biometric identification, which imply fingerprints and retinal scans, among many others. Current migrant workers must also be presented with benefits if they choose to take part in the program. Moreover, the law profession can also stress that being a guest worker in the United States should not be viewed as a way to gain citizenship so that foreign migrants will not be oversupplied. Furthermore, lawyers can also petition for the review of existing immigration laws so that possible irregularities and loopholes can be addressed. In short, what the law profession can do to address these problems in immigration to the United States is to ensure stricter and more effective performance of old laws and the crafting of new ones that will resolve the issue while ensuring that economic benefits are attained.

Long Term Conditions
The aim of this essay is to consider approaches to promoting the self- perplexity of a keen-sighted-run condition. The focus current of air be pertained to module content and based on a affected role that I gift provided nursing c atomic number 18 for during my clinical practice. at that place bequeath be a brief introduction of the affected role and the scene in which I was involved in their nursing c atomic number 18. The pathophysiology of the elect LTC on with the related physical, psychological and kind involve of the consider subject-suffering of role impart be considered. in that respect depart be a discussion of principles of self-management that will link to national LTC policies. This will alike include initiatives and analysis of the authorizedty of the key principles for an approach to providing self-management hold out, for the chosen LTC, including benefits and challenges. To conclude I will use evidence-based recommendations of how the patien t could be contributeed to self-manage their condition. A wide range of evidence will be utilize to support my discussion. The patient chosen to explore, is integrity who lives with the LTC of Parkinsons. The patient had started to experience Motor Fluctuations, likewise referred to as reach periods.Motor Fluctuations be associated with long-term use of levodopa and usually appear in throng who restrain had Parkinsons for some time, patients experience end-of-dose deterioration meaning that the dose does not experience until the next dose is due (Parkinsons. org 2008). This patient spent one hebdomad on a neurology rehabilitation unit. The context in which I worked with this patient was to assist with the teaching of an apomorphine syringe driver and to assess on and off periods earlier the use of the heart and soul and then when the pump was in use and in addition to hold in that at that place were no side make to its use.During this week I worked alongside a team of occupational therapists and physi new(prenominal)apists, as it was essential that the patient regained confidence with daily activities, face-to-face contends, dressing and aliment preparation. The aim of the teaching was to en adequate to(p) the patient to constrain independent with the apomorphine pump from being able to per make a subcutaneous injection to its removal when medicine had finished. It was merry that the patient became competent and confident in the exhibit as they had been very active without their life and wanted to await so for as long as assertable. Parkinsons. org (2010) describe Parkinsons as the disease with no obvious cause and is the most common form of Parkinsonism the other forms of Parkinsonism be vascular, Drug-induced Parkinsonism, delirium with Lewy bodies, inherited and Juvenile. vascular is an uncharacteristic form of Parkinsonism and usually presents with difficulties in speaking, swallowing and the ability in making facial express ions.Drug-induced Parkinsonism occurs in 7% of people and is attributed to major tranquilizer medication which block dopamine these drugs normally treat schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions and once the problem has been diagnosed then the someone will repossess in hours, days or months after ceasing taking the medication. Dementia with Lewy bodies has no cure and symptoms include difficulties with concentration, memory, language and the ability to carry out open actions. Many people suffer from hallucinations, sluggishness of lawsuit, rigidity and tremors.Dementia with Lewy bodies is similar to Alzheimers. inherit Parkinsons is r are and there is no evidence that is stick out be passed on in families, however it is estimated that 5% of people with Parkinsons whitethorn have a genetic cause. Juvenile is a term used for souls diagnosed under the age of twenty years. As NICE clinical guidelines 35 (2006) states, Parkinsons disease is a progressive neurodegenerative lon g-term condition and chiefly affects those of middle to old age. Parkinsons occurs when the cells containing dopamine die off.At present there is no consistent test that put up define if a patient has Parkinsons due to the close clinical resemblances of other conditions. Parkinsons is diagnosed in general done history based discipline and examination. The main symptoms and signs of Parkinsons are bradykinesia, rigidity and rest tremor. Parkinsons is mainly seen as a movement disorder, but other areas of wellness problems are associated with it. These include depression and dementia along with autonomic disturbances and pain, although considered to be rare they keep present at a later stage of the condition. These rarer symptoms, as they progress, asshole lead to secure disability and handicap which harms quality of life for the person living with Parkinsons, this as well as has an concern on families and carers. The physical symptoms of Parkinsons offer be enfeeble for the patient and whitethorn include pain, falls/dizziness, dietary problems, bladder and bowels problems, swallowing and tongue control, speech/ communication problems, eye problems, frost, skin, scalp and sweating problems. It is not workable to discuss all of these physical elements in detail within this essay.I and then intend to focus on one specific physical horizon of the disease and discuss how this affects the clients needfully, along with the psychological and loving aspects. The area I will discuss is freezing. As identified by Parkinsons. org (2010), freezing will be experienced by every Parkinsons patient at some point, but becomes much apparent in patients who have had Parkinsons for numerous years and also if levodopa has been used for long periods of time within their interference, however it must be noted that freezing can occur in Parkinson patients whom do not take levodopa and should not be seen as a side effect of taking levodopa. When freezing occurs it is a frightening experience and also a cause of bewilderment for the individual. Freezing is not just linked with gait movement it also includes speech freezing or repetitive activities such as straighten hair or the thought process for example when a patient is trying to remember something i. e. the name of a place. Along side this is also start hesitation this is associated with drinking from a cup, getting out of furnish or when a patient wants to step forward.Freezing is still not amply understood and may be attributed to interruptions to the sequence of movement, group situations or futile medication. Parkinsons brings many social problems, becoming less confident can bring low self-esteem that can lead to withdrawal from social activities. The individual may worry about how they look, talk or still the dash they move, this can inhibit the person from entering into normal activities and they may decide to stay at home to avoid electromotive force awkwardness.Reduced social izing may increase the likelihood of the individual suffering from depression toil and mood swings can be potentially be harmful to personal or close relationships. The individual may become unsure of their social position within the family, workplace or any groups, as they encounter lost or less authorised. Self-management of a LTC is strategically classic to the long-term sustainability of the NHS, and it is therefore essential to be clear on the principles of self-management and to have a clear approach to achieving a successful outcome. In response to the increasing levels of LTCs across England the Department of wellness (2012) have established a dedicate LTC team who has built a compendium to explain why pro-active management of LTCs is so important to the future of the NHS. This compendium provides compelling evidence and information to care support and drive a transformational diverseness to the way in which LTCs are managed, and the document states clearly that self-m anagement is central to this transformation, the principles of self-management have been outlined by the Health launching (2011) and these will now be discussed.Self-management can have very affirmatory effects on people who live with a long-term condition that affects their normal function of daily activities, as The Health keister (2011) suggests the use of self-management can have positive effects on behaviours and outlooks that an individual faces and how their quality of life can either be enhanced or depleted. In order to achieve a successful self-management outcome it is essential that time is invested early in the computer computer program to explain to the individual involved the many benefits that self-management can bring.Ensuring that they fully sympathize these benefits will greatly increase the likelihood that they fully engage into the programme and real take an increased responsibility for managing their LTC. Evidence suggests that self-management leads to a more than than positive health outcome and championing people to look after themselves can improve motivation, engagement and how they use and access the health swear out. It also describes to how habits change towards whole eating and exercise, which conduces in better clinical outcomes.Failure to establish documented engagement at an early stage will most belike result in limited deepen of responsibility and may lead to the patient failing to realise the benefits to themselves and also benefits to the NHS. They also stated that there is an extensive range of initiatives and one size does not fit all. As Brighton and Hove City PCT (2006) state, preparation and having a certain level of king is crucial to making lifestyle changes when living with a LTC.It is also requisite to understand the connection of why changes to lifestyles need to be made, and why planning carefully for change is fundamental to change actually being accomplished. It is important to support the in dividual through the change process as this can often create a degree of anxiety for them. Promoting the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and educating individuals on their condition, will boost confidence and assist the patient understand the benefits of self-management in the context of potentially slowing d aver the development of their condition, improved quality of life and remaining independent for as long as possible.Education is another key principle of self-management. An individual needs help and support to understand their condition, how it affects them and what they can do to help to pro-actively manage it. There are a number of options available here to help break an individual on their LTC such as reputable websites specifically get up up for their condition. They are an excellent source of information, which is ceaselessly updated, and enable the person to access easy to understand information in the privacy of their own home.Additionally, advice helplines add gre ater support for individual needs, without being confrontational. Support is also available for carers through courses run by the Expert Patients design Community Interest Company (EPP CIC). Leaflets are available to answer primary questions and give further information on where to find more support and advice that is available in their area. The Parkinsons Specialist Nurse is also a good resource as the suck can provide their expertness along with the expertise of multi-disciplinary teams (www. parkinsons. rg 2012) It is important to ensure that the level of fostering and reproduction provided is appropriate to the capability of the individual and also the state of their condition. Insufficient information could lead to poor decision making by the individual or a lack of confidence if they are uncertain about certain aspects of their condition. Similarly, providing training and study beyond the means of the individual may result in confusion or unrealistic expectations being established this would not be beneficial for either the individual or the NHS.Good training and education should be targeted at increasing the individuals understanding of their condition such that they are able to successfully monitor their symptoms and take appropriate, pro-active action to ensure treatment is sought quickly and to avoid potentially unnecessary admissions to hospital. One of the principles of self-management is to ensure sufficient emphasis is placed on problem solving. If an individual is to become increasingly capable of self-managing their LTC then an ability to solve problems is fundamental to achieving this.Without this it will prove difficult to change the behaviours necessary to allow a health care pro to move into a more supportive and assisting role, as oppose to the current situation where they are managing the care of the individual (Health Foundation 2011). Another area for consideration is that a patient must do it when to seek medical advice and i ntervention and feel comfortable with their decision-making techniques. It is also vital that the individual does not allow a situation becomes acute. The Health Foundation (2011) also states that, engagement and education are important to ensuring that the individual is position and in a position to be empowered with the responsibility for the self-management of their LTC. The principles of self-management support the involvement of the individual in decision making related to their care and also working collaboratively with their health care professionals to build their care plans. This continuous high level of involvement is essential to making sure that there is a real transfer of responsibility from the health care professional to the individual if there is, then there is a much greater chance that they will take ownership for the long-term self-management of their condition. Failure to truly involve the individual when making decisions about their care could result in a lack o f commitment to a care plan and/or false commitment to behavioral changes, ultimately resulting in the continued knockout reliance on their GP, A&E and other health service to manage their LTC in a reactive and cost inefficient manner. As Randall and crossbreeding (2011) discuss, it is apparent that within the United Kingdom there is an increased transfer of power and choice for users of the health and social care system and insurance policy drivers such as Independence, choice and Risk (DH2007) recognise the importance of empowering service users i. e. persons with LTCs, to ensure they have greater choice and control. When empowering someone, firstly there needs to an acknowledgment that the person has control over an aspect of their care and can make decisions that relate to it.Power can be seen in a mixture of forms but is normally defined as having knowledge and being able to make informed decisions and choices. When considering the decision process it is evident that some de cisions are taken alone, for example what clothes to wear, or with permission of others for instance apply monies from a joint account to buy a new kitchen and there are also decisions that are made which require formal consultation, e. g. implementing a new law. For any individual who is involved in the self-management process it is important to ensure that the degree of decision-making is appropriate to their personal set of circumstances. When empowering a person there are fundamental considerations to be identified. For example, the mental state of the individual, the finale to which their condition has progressed, their physical ability, their socio-economic situation, the extent of their support network (friends and family), their willingness to pro-actively engage in the self-management of their condition all of these factors may influence the rate and extent to which authorization may be achieved.Furthermore, empowering an individual with a long-term condition needs to be managed carefully. They will typically be interfacing with many different healthcare professionals and other parts of the NHS and other organisations, and if the views, opinions and approaches of those multiple contacts are not adjust or consistent it is possible this could have a negative impact on the empowerment process for the individual. It is therefore essential that there is one aligned approach and cohesive message. There is voiceless evidence contained within the ruminate by Luca Camerini et al (2012) that empowerment, combined with health knowledge have been shown to have a great impact on the self-management of chronic conditions, and that if managed well they can have a positive effect on health outcomes. For my chosen patient suffering with Parkinsons disease, I would recommend supporting them to self-manage through an approach of empowerment, ensuring that this was strongly underpinned by strong support in the training of health knowledge. As discussed earlier, som e of the key needs of an individual suffering with Parkinsons disease are related to their mobility, dietary requirements and pain relief and I want to explain how this recommended approach could help support the individual to more successfully self-manage these particular aspects of their condition. Firstly, in respect of mobility, freezing is often a situation, which affects PDs sufferers. In the first instance it is important to help educate the individual on why freezing happens.Ensuring that the individual has a clear understanding of their condition will help them to be more accepting of the effects, less afraid when they experience drive fluctuations or off episodes and crucially help them to make more informed decisions about potential ways of helping them to self-manage this aspect of their condition. As mentioned previously, the extent of knowledge and education needs to be appropriate to the individuals level of health literacy this aspect should not be underestimated, as there is a strong link between an individuals level of health literacy and their ability to successfully self-manage.As stated by the World Health Organisation (2009) health literacy is critical to empowerment, therefore this can present a barrier to achieving self-management through an empowerment based approach. An individuals capacity to access and effectively use information is an area that may need to be considered ab initio to decide if empowerment is the most suitable approach to adopt. There are a number of options available to help an individual manage motor fluctuation episodes such as medication, mental techniques and physical techniques.Again, the individual will need to be educated on these such that they are able to be involved, or even lead, the decision making process on selecting the most appropriate treatments and solutions for them. Each root may have twain(prenominal) advantages and disadvantages for the individual and these need to be made clear, if a pat ient is informed of the limitations and potential drawbacks of a specific treatment from the beginning, then they are more mentally prepared to deal with the challenges as they arise, educing the likelihood of failure. There are several approaches to providing education and support to Parkinson patients the LTC compendium recommends the Expert Education Programme, although not specifically for Parkinsons it provides courses to help with managing LTC conditions, online courses are available also, it is also possible to add your area to the list, they are free. The Parkinsons website has vast information both practical and informative and free help lines. In some areas there are Neuro-rehabilitation Units, available through referrals made by the Parkinsons specialist nurse or consultant, which gives access to multi-disciplinary teams all located within one centre. The Parkinsons Specialist Nurse holds clinics where discussions can take place for planning the future, medication changes and a point of contact if you need additional support before the next scheduled appointment. As part of the Health Foundation Co Creating Health programme (2012), a Buddies to Support Self Management scheme has been authentic for cancer patients in the Arran and Ayrshire region. The programme has been developed to enable patients who have finish self-management programmes to share their knowledge and skills with others in similar situations, along with helping patients who take not to be in a group situation. This could be a possible area to develop for Parkinsons or all LTC patients.

The golfing legend offer farewell to several of his big-name sponsors but the disgraced world number one still wont be tempted by the offer, which could be worth an astonishing $75m over five years. With a down payment of $5m (3. m) for the drill of Tigers likeness annually, the proposition provides performance incentives including $1m (736,000) for each Major he wins in theUSand $2m (1. 5m) for conquest at theBritish Open. Were in negotiations with IMG to sponsor Tiger, Paddy Power told US magazine website Golfweek. Its still in the early stage of the negotiations, really, to be effective with you. But if it all comes off, itll be the biggest sponsorship deal weve done by quite a some way. However,Mark Steinberg, Woods agent at IMG, indicated that Paddy Powers proposal is non being given serious consideration. Were not concern in any discussions to add to his sponsorship portfolio at this time, he verbalise. Business valueMarket demand Paddy Powers market demand is strong even through the inlet I would say it is the market leader as their money bum specials apply added insurance to bets made, so therefore more people would place their bets with them instead of a competitor. They would in addition be the most well know of the brands which lures more people to their shops. Expected revenue menses Paddy Power are constantly going head to head with their competitors by saying they will match a better expenditure if you can find it and with their money back specials as well. They are also opening more new stores each year to increase their m arket share. Risk evaluation Evaluation Tools utilise and why. I would use the SWOT abridgment tool in my evaluation of Paddy Power. I think it is the right tool to use because it would help them evaluate what their strengths, weaknesses, realizable opportunities and possible threats are in their running o f their organisation. Evaluation Tools not used and whyI would not use a PEST analysis tool in my evaluation as dont flavour it benefit Paddy Power as much as a SWOT analysis would. It wouldnt allow them to recognise the area of possible expansion opportunities. The path to his reign began when the united States conducted an occupation on the Dominic an Republic in the twentieth century. The U. S Marine-trained Trujillo quickly lift among the ranks in the Guardia Nacional, an army of locals trained by the U. S armed forces. The unite States made many developments during the occupation. The Americans built infrastructures, developed public health, and established schools, creating a middle-class society. Trujillo enrolled himself in a military school operated by America, in the year 1921. By the end of the year, he was assigned to command a particular battalion. This was the stepping stone to his rule. He the collaborated with rebel troops and forced the incumbent president to file an immediate resignation. Come the next election, Trujillo was the sole chance for the Dominican Party. Rafael Trujillos Tyrant career was already put into figure upon the beginning of his term. This is because of the disastrous hurricane that hit the country, Santo Domingo was totally devastated. Help soon arrived and the United States Red Cross pr ovided the funds and the City of Santo Domingo was reconstructed by Trujillo. peace of mind lasted for a year, Trujillo later began to make the citizens aware of his powers. From give yard, Trujillo expanded his domain to the local populace. Trujillo was incomprehensive of the biggest challenge to his career, upon unveiling his will to the people, Maria Argentina Minerva Mirabal refused to be controlled by Trujillo and fought for what she believed in, Trujillo was unmindful of the other threats and the scarcely dreadful thought to him was to be beaten by a woman, when Trujillo at long last got rid of his greatest nemesis, he thought the he finally won. contradictory to his convict ions, the assassination of the key figures of the resistance led to a revolution in a nationwide scale which led to the plot of his his death on May 30, 1961. In the Time of the Butterflies 3 The Way of the Butterfly Minerva was the mo born of the Mirabal Sisters. Minerva grew up a strong woman with rebellious tendencies. She started concerning herself when she sight that she cant even speak her mind in her stimulate home. In Minervas narrative chapter, she told that her eyes opened little-by-little, she exclaimed that her primary motives were political as she fought for her freedom, as a girl and as a citizen. As she sees the torment inflicted by Trujillos cronies to her friends families, in her old age with Immaculada Concepcion, her separatist ideology was turning into angst. Her revitalized cause went on, as she got associated with the Popular Socialist Party. Her familiarity with the groups leader strengthened Minervas rogue emotions toward the Trujillo Administration. Thes e sentiments that she had were also gageed up by literary works with leftist implications and radio receiver frequencies from the nearby lands of Cuba and Venezuela that centered discussion on the Dominican Republics political turmoil.Minervas first encounter withTrujillo was when the Mirabals were invited to a party by Trujillo, the invitation was personally brought by prominent local government officials. Don Enrique, Dona Chea, Patria with her save Pedro, Dede along with her conserve Jaime and Minerva attended the Banquet. A storm ruined the party which prompted the family to make a graceful exit. Minervas father was immediately comprehend the next day, followed by Minerva and her Mother the day afterward. Trujillo, angered by the familys early departure, treated such act as a form of disrespect.Prior to their arrest, the governor suggested that Don Enrique should submit a letter of justification to Trujillo. The head of the Mirabal family complied, however Trujillo was not satisfied. Minerva was detained with her mother at he Hotel Nacional apart from Don Enrique who was barred at the Ciudad Trujillo(Santo Domingo). Everyday, Minerva was taken to the Fortaleza Ozama for interrogation. Minerva was questioned about communism charges and was also obliged to write a letter of apology but declined. The connections of the family brought Minerva and her family back to libertys arm. In the Time of the Butterflies 4 They were again arrested, after two years of freedom, Don Enrique was incarcerated on Ozama while Minerva and the other females were set under house arrest. They were convicted of failure to purchase a book indite about Trujillo. The truth behind the arrest was actually Minervas contempt for Trujillos ideologies in government. These accounts proved to be too straining for their father, idolize and stress brought Don Enrique Mirabal to his grave in 1953.Due to this recent events, Minervas motives list added a fresh one, a personal motive, her an gst turned into commit, the desire to get Rafael Trujillo out of position. She went to the city of Santo Domingo to study law in her tactual sensation that it would give her a big leap in her struggle against Trujillos governance, she was then persuaded by a law professor, Lio Morales and taught her that Trujillo was Neither the God nor the compulsory Ruler whom the people believed he is. As she was in law school, her her studies were ordered to stop due to the sensitivity of her topic. The next years were periods of peace for Minerva as she led a normal life. Minerva and her sisters pursued romantic relationships. Four years later Minerva would be part of an internal anti-regime group in her re-kindled attempts to remove the Trujillo-led government. The group in which Minervas husband was the president, was named The 14th of June Movement. The movement was named as such as a tribute to the Dominican Liberation parade who were slaughtered by Trujillos army in an effort to end h is regime. The group has an elite subgroup The Butterflies in which Minerva is a part of. The members of the Leftist Sect were grok and later released due to increasing anti-government uprisings. Unfortunately, some of the prisoners remained, one of them was Minervas husband Manuel. This move by Trujillo did not stop Minerva in fighting for her cause, one after noon when Minerva was on her way home from a berate to her husband, the vehicle they were in was ambushed by the Trujillo Soldiers. They were brought in a sugarcane alter where the unarmed Minerva together with her sisters Patria and Maria Teresa. Here they were ruthlessly beaten to death. Minerva did not die in vain. Her death served as a wake up call and started an anti Trujillo which resulted to the rulers assassination, thus ending his inhuman sovereignty.References Alvarez, J. (1994).
